課程概述 |
We will read the second and third part of Immanuel Kant’s Book “Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals” (1785). This is the second semester of an introductory graduate course to Kant’s moral philosophy. Having taken the first semester is required. We will go very slowly, covering about two to three pages per week from the Groundwork. The commentary by Allison, which we will use at the side, is very detailed. A more basic commentary is the one by Sally Sedgwick, and an old classic is Paton’s book. We will use all three. This second semester course will draw out more connections with Kant’s first Critique and the question of free will and determinism in the framework of Kant’s transcendental philosophy. |
